Our Story

Twin Mountain Diesel & Marine Services opened, as a result of chasing a lifelong dream, in 2022. Hailing from Judique , Cape Breton, owner Bryan MacDonell was introduced to the fishing community at a young age, like many who grew up in small coastal towns in Western Cape Breton. Spending many a trip out on the water, either fishing or for pleasure, Bryan's interest in boat work only grew. After becoming a heavy duty equipment mechanic himself in 2004, it did not take him long to realize he wanted to pursue specializing in marine engine repair. After almost 20 years growing his knowledge and skill set, he made the decision to branch out on his own, creating Twin Mountain Diesel & Marine Services. From the very start, his focus continues to be on providing dependable, straightforward service to the marine community.

Since opening, Twin Mountain Diesel has been proud to support commercial fishing fleets and marine operators across Nova Scotia. Based in Whycocomagh, Cape Breton—next to the Bras d’Or Lake—we’re centrally located to help vessels both on and off the water.

At Twin Mountain Diesel, our approach is simple: help our customers keep their operations running smoothly. We provide sales, parts, and service for Caterpillar, Volvo Penta, and Baudouin marine engines, along with drivetrain support for Twin Disc and ZF. As an authorized dealer, we’re able to offer trusted equipment backed by reliable, factory-supported service.

We understand how important it is to keep downtime to a minimum, especially in this line of work. That’s why we offer both in-shop and mobile service, working closely with our customers to get them back up and running as quickly as possible.
